Challenge v Imokilly in Carrigtwohill on Sunday 17th April 2016
Carrigtwohill 2-17 Imokilly 0-14
Carrig’s senior hurlers were without a League match for the third Sunday in a row but had a very useful challenge match against Imokilly to fill the gap last weekend. Both teams were short front line players but there was a good pace to the game on a fine Sunday morning and Carrig ran out deserving winners.
Early goals from the excellent Jay Horgan and Darren O’Driscoll put Carrig in a commanding position and they led by 2-8 to 0-7 at half time. Tomas Hogan was terrific from placed balls and finished the match with a ten point haul, including two points from play. There were good displays all over the field with Paraic Hogan continuing in fantastic form at full back alongside two young corner backs Brian Cashman and Oliver Baverstock, both of whom played very well too.
Carrig’s scoring rate dropped a little in the second half but they were never in any danger. Second half substitute Conor McCarthy scored a lovely point and Cian Harte acquitted himself well at wing back in an experimental Carrig back line.
