There was a great turnout on a cool and fresh morning for the Juvenile Poc Fada, with over 50 young participants between the ages of 7 and 15.
It was the first time that we tried this new route, starting at the train station and heading east towards Carrigane via Poulaniska, before returning west along the Bog Road. The general consensus is that it was a resounding success and a safer route for the children taking part.
A special word of thanks to Kieran & Trish Brennan who served refreshments along the route and to Brendan Foley & Andrea Kennedy who provided further refreshments at the finish, assisted by Maeve Horgan.
Chairman, Pat Horgan’s plea, ‘do not run’ fell on deaf ears yet again. We have it on good account that some of the stewards from the adult ranks are already gone into training for next December’s event, so that they will be able to keep up with the leaders’ gallop.
