Fé 10 Hurlers on the big stage
The Carrig Fé 10’s had the fantastic opportunity to play the half time match against Blackrock at the Allianz Hurling League Division 1A fixture between Cork and Tipperary in Páirc Uí Rinn on the 26th March.
Twenty two excited boys turned up on the day to play two 11 aside games. Six coaches, a young referee and the players wore their Carrig colours proudly.
The boys shared some playful banter with passers-by, shouting “Come on Cork” to give the response “we are from Carrigtwohill!” The funniest part of the day was when Cork scored their first point and the boys cheered – four Tipp supporters sitting in front of us looked around in disbelief, we laughed and explained who we were in the blue and gold.
The boys were excellent getting ready for their big entry onto the pitch and proudly marched down in two lines, helmets on, wearing their new Carrig jerseys sponsored by Shipping Solutions. Two games were played in front of the covered terrace and stand with 6000+ spectators cheering on the teams.
Blackrock brought extra players and in true Carrig sporting spirit all boys played the full match. Our boys played hard for the full 10 minutes and finished victorious in both games. We returned to our seats and tucked into some treats to watch the rest of the Senior game. Cork, like Carrig were victorious against a tough opposition.
