The Juvenile Club would like to congratulate Carrig’s Aaron Walsh-Barry on winning a Munster minor hurling championship medal with Cork.
The Rebels played Clare in the Munster final yesterday at Semple Stadium in Thurles. The minor match was contested in front of a huge crowd of approximately 35,000-40,000 people, as the stadium was filling to its almost 46,000 capacity ahead of the senior final, also between Cork and Clare.
Aaron lined out at right half back and put in a fine performance, hurling plenty of ball in a game which Cork won comprehensively on a scoreline of 4-21 to 0-16. He was called ashore in the 49th minute due to the recurrence of a recent leg injury that he aggravated late in the first half.
We are absolutely delighted for Aaron, who now has the U17 and minor All-Ireland semi-finals to look forward to. The minor semi-final will be the curtain-raiser to the senior semi-final, which Cork also contest on the 13th August.
Aaron Abú! Carraig Abú! Corcaigh Abú!
