Carrigtwohill GAA has followed Aaron Walsh Barry’s run to the All-Ireland Minor Hurling final on Sunday with great interest all year. The county was naturally disappointed when our senior hurlers fell just short of making All-Ireland Sunday a Cork-Galway double-header.
However, as we look forward to the 1.15pm throw-in for the minor decider, it would be remiss not to offer our best wishes to a former Carrig hurler who will be taking part in the senior showpiece. Shane Fives, a stalwart at corner-back for Waterford, hurled for Carrig from 2013-2015 and will be a major part of the Déise’s attempt to end a 58-year All-Ireland drought. Shane recently conducted an interview with the 42.ie prior to the All-Ireland semi-final and expressed his gratitude to our club for the time that he spent here.
We wish Aaron the very best of luck in the minor decider and everyone involved with Carrigtwohill GAA will no doubt be in Shane’s corner at half-three on Sunday as well. Carraig Abú!
