Best of luck to the four Carrig lads who are togging out for Midleton CBS in the Harty Cup semi-final in Clonmel at 1.30pm tomorrow. Shane O’Hanlon, Kiitan Oke, Aaron Walsh Barry and CBS co-captain Liam Gosnell are part of the panel that will take on reigning champions Our Lady’s Templemore. The winners will meet either Ardscoil Rís or Christian Brothers Cork in the final on Saturday, February 17th. Aaron and Liam (0-8, 0-7f) played significant roles in CBS’ 1-point quarter-final win over Thurles CBS with the 42.ie praising Liam’s free-taking ability in particular.
Midleton CBS were the last Cork school to win the Harty Cup when they upset the odds against St. Flannan’s in 2006, thanks mainly to the efforts of top-scorer Robbie White. CBS fell to the beaten finalists St. Colman’s at the semi-final stage last year. Aaron, Kiitan, Shane and Liam were all integral in helping the 2017 Carrig minors reach their first county final since 2007 and will look to continue making history tomorrow. We wish them all the best.
