The (2017) U12 hurling panel were presented with their medals in the Community Centre on Friday evening, 26th January.
Juvenile Club Joint-PRO, David Sullivan welcomed the players, coaches and parents. He congratulated the players on their tremendous year on the field of play and urged them to keep improving for 2018, without letting any complacency set in.
The Fé 12s played 24 hurling matches during 2017, of which 22 were won, with a draw and a loss apiece.
In the top tier of the hurling league, Carrig won 12 of their 13 matches, including the final to Valley Rovers on a scoreline of 3-08 to 1-03. They also won the Colman Dillon Tournament, which had very good opposition in the form of the best that Cork had on offer (in Sars and Valley Rovers) along with teams from Tipperary, Galway and Dublin.
Fé 12 joint-manager, Seán Barry thanked the parents for their efforts and commitment in bringing the players to training and matches, which ultimately contributed to the success of the team.
Carrig minor (and All-Ireland U17 hurling championship medal winner), Aaron Walsh Barry presented the medals to the players. We would like to thank Aaron for coming along on the evening. He is a great role model for these young players.
After the medal presentation, there was some ‘mingle time’ with tea, coffee and biscuits.
A big thanks must also go to the man who constantly leads the club from behind (and from the front, Ed!), Coaching Officer, Kieran Brennan who organised the evening.
