Shane O’Hanlon, Kiitan Oke, Aaron Walsh Barry and Liam Gosnell will tog out for Midleton CBS in the Harty Cup final in Mallow this Saturday, looking to become the first Cork champions since Robbie White starred in a CBS upset over St. Flannan’s in 2006. The opposition, Ardscoil Rís of Limerick, are favourites after defeating Midleton in the group stage by a single point back in November. Aaron Walsh Barry and Liam Gosnell both scored 2 points that day.
Midleton CBS had a very comfortable semi-final win over last year’s Harty and Croke Cup winners, Our Lady’s Templemore. Liam Gosnell scored 0-9(5f) in that rout and Walsh Barry excelled at the back. They’ll need more of the same to come out on top tomorrow. Ardscoil Rís were put to the pin of their collar by CBC Cork in their semi-final but had a very easy quarter-final win over the AG (video here).Regardless of tomorrow’s outcome, both teams will progress to the Croke Cup with the winners advancing to the semi-final and the losers to the quarter -final. But CBS will be out to end the drought.
Everyone involved in Carrigtwohill GAA would like to wish the four lads and the team the very best of luck.
The four lads were integral in helping Carrig reach our first minor county final in a decade last year.
