RedFM Senior Hurling League Round 1
Bishopstown 0-13 Carrig 0-12
in Bishopstown on Sunday, February 25th
Referee: Cormac Dineen (Douglas)
Carrig could count themselves highly unlucky to leave Bishopstown without at least a share of the spoils on this bitterly cold Sunday afternoon.
Bishopstown had the better of the chances in the first half and two quick-fire points by the city outfit just before half-time saw them go in ahead 0-7 to 0-4. Sean Rohan and Liam Gosnell scored a brace apiece to keep Carrig in touch.
Despite the deficit, Carrig’s backs were generally on top and hurling well and that continued into the second half. Carrig went about clawing back the lead but just couldn’t manage to draw level with the home side. Sean Rohan added his third point and Brendan Twomey struck over his only score from a tight angle with Liam Gosnell adding a further six points in the half. Liam O’Sullivan, moved to the forwards after his man was sent off for striking, had an effort at goal in the final minute but it was deflected out for a ’65. Liam Gosnell put over the ’65 but Bishopstown worked the subsequent puckout clear and time was up.
