Cork Colleges U16 A Hurling Final
Midleton CBS v St. Colman’s in CIT, Thursday 8th March 2018
Midleton CBS 1-14 St. Colman’s 3-06
Carrigtwohill had five representatives on the Midleton CBS panel that won this tough and exciting contest.
Seán Walsh excelled in the left corner forward position, being the game’s top scorer, bagging 1-09 (7f). In windy conditions, he was very accurate from placed balls. Seán’s neatly finished goal came at a crucial stage in the game, after St. Colman’s had hit CBS with two goals of their own in the space of a few minutes. That green flag kept Midleton’s nose in front (1-08 to 2-04) at half-time.
The second half was nip ‘n tuck, with no more than three points separating the sides at any stage. With the game drawn going into injury time, Seán pointed a pressure free and followed it up with a fine point from play; the last score of the game.
Dáire Sullivan dominated at wing back and centre back, hurling and fielding a load of ball. He put in a fine display until he had to retire from the game injured with three minutes of normal time remaining.
Justin Oke put in a workmanlike performance at left half forward, winning three invaluable frees, all of which his aforementioned club-mate converted.
Seán de Búrca and Cian Horgan were also on the CBS panel.
Well done to all five players, who did Carrig proud. Congratulations also to their teammates and mentors from the other East Cork clubs.
