Senior Hurling Championship
Carrigtwohill vs Blackrock
in Páirc Uí Rinn on Sunday, April 29th at 3.45pm.
Referee: Simon Stokes (Tullylease)
Carrig and Blackrock go to battle in the first round of the senior hurling championship this Sunday afternoon. The game will be broadcast live on TG4 and will be preceded by the clash of Midleton and Bishopstown. Carrig and Blackrock experienced differing fortunes in the championship last year with Blackrock reaching the county final, losing out to Imokilly, and Carrig being involved in another relegation final, but a win over Ballyhea could provide new impetus to a young Carrig team.
Both sides have underwhelmed in the league so far, with one win between them from twelve matches. Sunday’s match however will see Carrig at full strength for the first time all year and you can be sure that this team will be well up for the challenge.
It is also fitting that in our hundredth year since winning our first senior hurling championship in 1918 against Blackrock, we draw the city side in championship once again. You can read all about that triumph in the Carrigtwohill history section here. It would be great to have a big crowd at Páirc Uí Rinn on Sunday to roar the lads on, so please come out and support.
