All roads led to Thurles for the Tipperary v Cork Munster senior hurling championship Round 2 match on a lovely sunny day.
The Juvenile Club ran two buses to Tipperary. The Fé 9s/Fé 10s travelled on one bus and stopped off in Boherlahan, the home club of Fé 10 & Fé 16 coach (and former Tipperary underage & senior hurler), Aidan Flanagan. Some of the Fé 9s/Fé 10s played a match against Boherlahan-Dualla, with the other half playing neighbouring club, Clonoulty-Rossmore. After playing challenge matches against the Tipperary clubs, the Fé 9/Fé 10 bus headed on to the senior match in Thurles, which finished in a draw.
The Fé 14 team also ran a bus to the Premier County. Their stop-off was in Cashel where they played a challenge match against the local club with the backdrop of the famous Rock of Cashel. The match finished in a win for Carrig on a scoreline of 1-14 to 1-06.
Lastly, a special word of mention for Fé 12 & Fé 13 player, Patrick Walsh who represented school (Scoil Mhuire Naofa), club and county in the Primary Games match against Tipperary at half-time in the senior match. Well done to Patrick on his run-out on the hallowed turf of Tom Semple Stadium.
Sincere thanks to the coaches who organised the buses and looked after the members of the Juvenile Club for the day. Also, a special word of thanks to the Boherlahan-Dualla, Clonoulty-Rossmore and Cashel clubs for their welcome and the hospitality that they showed in providing refreshments for the Carrig teams and coaches. Lastly, we’d like to thank Ahern’s Centra for very kindly sponsoring water, crisps and chocolates for the Fé 9/Fé 10 bus.
