Rebel Óg Premier 2A Minor Hurling League
Carrig 2-21 (27) Bishopstown 1-6 (9)
in Carrig on Thursday, July 5th.
Referee: Brian Walsh (Aghada)
Carrig’s minor hurlers secured a comprehensive win in their final league game before their championship tie with Carrigaline this Monday.
Aaron Walsh Barry opened Carrig’s account with two great strikes from distance and after a tit-for-tat opening quarter Carrig were rarely troubled. Justin Oke notched the goal that gave Carrig a comfortable cushion and Sean Walsh was accurate from play and frees. Their combined efforts gave Carrig a 1-10 to 0-6 half-time lead.
Carrig were dominant in the second half and a great defensive display shipped only one goal in thirty minutes. Up the other end, Carrig were taking scores at will with John Carroll, Cormac Flynn and Ryan O’Donovan to the fore. Ryan O’Donovan scored Carrig’s second goal after great work from John Carroll. Fifteen year-old David Joseph and James Mulcahy were also outstanding at midfield and the entire panel drove Carrig onto a comprehensive win.
Carrig meet Carrigaline in the back door of the minor hurling championship this Monday in Delaneys. Throw-in at 7.30pm.
