East Cork Junior A Footbal Championship Semi-final
Carrig 0-7 (7) Midleton 2-21 (27)
in Lisgoold on Tuesday, July 17th.
Referee: James Bermingham (Bride Rovers)
Carrig could have no complaints about the result of this semi-final clash with Midleton in Lisgoold. A slow Carrig start saw Midleton jump out to a 0-5 to 0-1 lead inside eight minutes with a Brendan Horgan free opening Carrig’s account. Two quick points from Sean Rohan and another Horgan free had Carrig within two on eleven minutes but that was as close as they’d get as Midleton built up a six-point half time lead, 0-11 to 0-5. Sean Rohan and Seamus Roche rounded out Carrig’s first half total.
Midleton continued where they left off in the second half with another trio of points before Horgan registered Carrig’s first score of the half on forty-four minutes. Carrig couldn’t get to grips with Midleton’s runners however and two late Midleton goals could only be answered by a Frank Kierans point. Final score 0-7 to 2-21.
Scorers: B. Horgan 0-3 (0-2f), S. Rohan 0-2, S. Roche 0-1, F. Kierans 0-1.
