Fé 15A Football Championship County Semi-Final
Carrigtwohill v Kilshannig in Carrigtwohill, Wednesday 1st August 2018
Carrigtwohill 4-13 Kilshannig 5-06
The U15 footballers put in a stunning display to reach the county final of the football championship. After a very tough quarter-final encounter against Glenville, which Carrig edged by the bare minimum (1-10 to 1-11), Kilshannig were fancied to win this match.
Carrigtwohill were determined that the game would not go with the script and played some brilliant football that involved a lot of short passing and holding possession. The game was very close in the first half, with Carrig just a point in front at the short whistle, 2-05 to 2-04. The first half goals came courtesy of a great individual effort by Neil Coughlan and a scrambled effort in the goalmouth by Cian Murphy.
Carrig hit their purple patch early in the second half and stretched the lead to nine points. To Kilshannig’s credit, they fought until the end and reduced Carrigtwohill’s lead to four points. The second half goals were scored by Kuba Hofft and Lorcán Walsh.
A huge well done to the players and their mentors on what was one of the best performances by a Carrigtwohill underage team in some time.
Clyda Rovers provide the opposition in the final, which has been scheduled for Wednesday, 15th August at 7.15pm. (Venue not yet confirmed.)
