Fé 16 Central Premier 2A Hurling Championship Quarter-Final
Carrigtwohill v Blarney in Delanys, Thursday 2nd August 2018
Carrigtwohill 1-19 Blarney 2-07
The U16 hurlers put in a great second half display to see off the challenge of Blarney in this championship quarter-final.
Blarney opened the scoring with the first two points of the match before three Seán Walsh points settled Carrig in the game. The remainder of the first half was an even affair, with Carrigtwohill leading by a solitary point at half-time, 0-09 to 1-05.
Carrigtwohill thundered into the second half of this game and ten minutes on, they were ahead by six points, 0-15 to 1-06. They remained in control for the rest of the game.
This was a much improved performance on the previous championship outing against Whitechurch. Seán Walsh put in a brilliant display at centre forward, contributing a massive 17 points of Carrig’s tally. Cian Horgan and Jonathan Spillane dominated the full-back line with David Joseph working tirelessly at centre back. Dáire Sullivan drove the game from midfield, ably assisted by Seán de Búrca (when he was relocated to midfield). Justin Oke posed plenty of problems for the Blarney full-back line with Adam Walsh winning invaluable frees and chipping in with a great score of his own. Kuba Hofft had a big impact on the game when introduced in the second.
Well done to the team and their mentors on what was a very good performance.
