The Fé 13 leagues are currently on downtime to provide some R&R for players and coaches alike.
In the Premier 1 hurling league, Carrigtwohill made the short trip to Riverstown to take on Sars on the 9th June. This was a very close match throughout, with nothing to separate the sides at half-time after Carrig’s first goal by Joel Joseph late into injury time drew the match, 2-03 to 1-06. Sars’ backs got on top of the Carrig forwards in the second half with Carrig only registering two scores (a Patrick Walsh goal and a pointed free by Seán Brennan). Sars edged this one on a scoreline of 3-08 to 2-07. Scorers for Carrigtwohill were Patrick Walsh (1-3), Joel Joseph (1-1) and Seán Brennan (0-3, 2f).
The final round of the first phase of the Fé 13 Premier 2 football league saw Na Piarsaigh travel to West End on the 15th June. Carrig led this game by 5-10 to 1-0 at half-time. Na Piarsaigh rallied in the second half, scoring seven goals, with Carrig running out winners on a scoreline of 5-12 to 7-0. This result keeps Carrigtwohill in the hunt in the football league. Scorers for Carrig were Seán Brennan (4-1)*, Daniel Murnane (1-5, 2f), Patrick Walsh (0-6).
*(Guinness World Records should be getting a phone call to see if Seán Brennan set a new world record for the fastest hat-trick in a field spot. Seán raised three green flags in under 90 seconds just before half-time from the 29th to the 30th minute of the match.)
The Fé 13s have played two hurling challenge matches to keep them ticking over during the summer break from the leagues. They travelled to Aghada on the 6th July and were much too strong on the evening, playing some fantastic hurling in all lines of the field. On the 3rd August, Kiltha Óg travelled to West End. Carrig won this match on a scoreline of 4-18 to 2-07.
