What a way to end this weekend for the Club. We had a massive turnout yesterday morning for our 2nd Annual Dominic Rooney Tournament and the weather went with us for this year !
7 Clubs -8 Teams and about 140 girls playing Camogie in West End.
Our first and foremost thanks must go to Margaret Rooney, David, Adam, Cillian & Eoin plus all the extended Rooney & Buckley Families – without their support we couldn’t have run what has become a massive event in our Club’s Calendar. Dominic’s legacy as a fantastic Referee, Club Man, Dad, Husband & Friend lives on in everyone’s memory. Huge thanks to Dominic’s extended family who traveled all the way down from Kildare to show their support.
Huge thanks goes to Aghada Camogie Club, Castlemartyr Camogie, Cobh Camogie, Glen Rovers, Blackrock Camogie Club, Erins Own GAA Club, Cork for traveling down yesterday morning to support our blitz. There were fantastic displays of Camogie all over West End. Thank you very much to everyone for bringing the girls down.
Killian – our piper was a fantastic addition to this years event. Huge thanks Killian.
To the Cork Senior & Intermediate girls for giving their time so generously yesterday to take part in the Parade and to sign jerseys & hurleys and talk to the younger girls. Thank You very much. Stefanie Beausang was instrumental in organising this – thank you Stef !
After that our sincere thanks must go to all the ladies who ran the kitchen yesterday and to all the parents for donations of sandwiches, cakes, & biscuits – all supporters were well fed. Thank you all so very much.
To Peter Hogan & Carrigtwohill GAA Club for providing the pitches and giving us the run of the GAA Club for the entire day. Your support for Carrigtwohill Camogie Club has been fantastic for the entire year and we deeply appreciate it.
To Carrigtwohill First Responders, Iain Grant, Craig Flanagan & Karen Horgan who demonstrated hands only CPR to dozens of people yesterday. Such an important skill and you are never too young to learn !!
Thanks to John O’Brien for being on hand for the entire day to photograph the entire event, we can’t wait to see the photos ! Thank You John. And to the guys in Midleton News, who never fail to promote and help in this event.
And finally – to the referees PJ Ahern, Johnny O’Connell, Aindriu Dorgan, Joseph Coppinger – who very generously donate their time on the day. They are always on the end of the phone to offer support and help in the run up to the event. Thank you all so very much. Special thanks to PJ, for collating the results for the finals.
Massive Congratulations to Aghada Camogie Club & Glen Rovers who won both their finals. And to Aoife Lee from Aghada who was voted Player of the Tournament by the Referees.
Míle Buiochas de gach duine !
