RedFM Division 2 Hurling League Round
Carrig 1-16 Fr. O’Neills 1-15 in Carrig on Sunday, April 7th at 2pm.
Referee: Aidan Barry (Sars)

Carrig came out on top of a great tussle with a strong Fr. O’Neills side with a clinical last ten minutes in the latest round of the league. It was an excellent performance and result only two weeks out from championship.

Carrig trailed 1-9 to 1-7 at the half after playing in to a strong breeze. Brendan Twomey got Carrig’s opening goal after a fine move and other scores came from Liam Gosnell 0-4 (0-3f), Daire Crotty 0-2 and Eoghan O’Mahony.

Carrig came out of the traps in the second half and with the aid of the breeze held Fr. O’Neills scorelss in the third quarter whilst pushing a point ahead themselves through scores from Gosnell 0-2f and Twomey; 1-10 to 1-9. It was tit-for-tat going into the last ten minutes when Carrig were reduced to fourteen men and went a point down but the lads dug in and worked an excellent goal when Sean Rohan fed Liam Gosnell who buried to the net. Carrig saw out the win with fine scores from Conor O’Mahony, Tomás Hogan, Jamie McCarthy and Brendan McCarthy.

Carrig now meet Bandon in West End this Saturday at 7.30pm which is exactly one week from championship against St. Finbarrs.

Scorers: L. Gosnell 1-6 (0-5f), B. Twomey 1-1, D. Crotty 0-2, T. Hogan, E. O’Mahony, C. O’Mahony, J. McCarthy and B. McCarthy 0-1 each.
