Senior Hurling Championship Round 1
Carrigtwohill 0-8 St. Finbarrs 3-23 in Riverstown on Saturday, April 20th at 7.30pm.
Referee: Nathan Wall (Carrigaline)
Carrig were well beaten in the first round of the Senior Hurling Championship on a perfect evening for hurling in Riverstown last Saturday.
For the first fifteen minutes of both halves Carrig kept pace with the Barrs with both sides scoring 0-3 apiece in either quarter but the rest of the game belonged to the city side as a young Carrig team succumbed to the greater physicality and movement.
Liam Gosnell was Carrig’s chief scorer and was almost unerring from placed balls landing 6/7 shots at goal. Padraic Hogan also landed a monster free and Jay Horgan registered Carrig’s only score from play with a fine strike from midfield.
Carrig will look to get back on track and continue building on a good league campaign that currently sees them sit 2nd after 6 games.
Scorers: L. Gosnell 0-6 (0-6f), P. Hogan (free), J. Horgan 0-1 apiece.
