Mental health services around the country have been under serious strain with all that’s going on over the last number of weeks. People are understandably feeling a range of negative emotions and its important that they have an outlet to help them. In our village, one of the groups providing this service is our local Family Resource Centre. The FRC has trained counsellors providing much-needed mental health services during this difficult period and they need our help.
Members of Carrigtwohill GAA and the wider community are coming together to help out where we can. We have put together the Carrigtwohill 5K FRC Fundraiser and we’re looking for as many people to get involved as possible.
Our goals are to:
- Raise awareness about the FRC Counselling Service
- Raise funds to help the Counsellors involved
- Get people talking about mental health
- Help our community
The 5km fundraiser is simple. You can run, walk or cycle 5km (within 2km of your house) and donate €5 to our GoFundMe page here. Then nominate 5 others to complete the challenge. Raising the heart rate can help raise vital funds to raise spirits and alleviate the stigma around mental health. And feel free to post your times on our Facebook or Twitter page as we’re always on the lookout for hidden athleticism! We hope that you take part but more importantly that you stay safe. Carrig Abú!
