Under-13 Hurling 2011

Our fe13 hurlers took on Midleton in the quarter-final of the league in Midleton last sat.
Even though conditions were wet and heavy the game was played at a fast pace and produced some fantastic scores and passages of play throughout. The lead was exchanged a few times during both halves but we were a few points ahead at the break.

We were ahead going into the final minutes but were unfortunate to lose by a goal in the end. Our three subs made a strong contribution when they came on and this is a good sign for our team in next year,s competitions. Thanks to all the panel for their effort and dedication throughout the year and to mentors and parents for their help.

Our u13 hurlers recently played Midleton in the premier 1 championship semi final. It was even at half time, 1-2 each. Midleton started strong in the second half and went a few scores ahead. Our lads battled hard for the last thirty minutes but were unable to reduce the gap and lost to a strong skillful Midleton team. We have a good panel, and this was highlighted by the great contribution the subs made when they were brought on.
We play the same opposition in the league quarter final in the next couple of weeks.
Well done and good luck to the lads.

Our u13 hurlers travelled to Douglas on Sat last to play the home team in the county quarter-final premier1 championship. We played with a strong wind in the first half and led by a few points at the break. Douglas put up a huge come-back in the second half and came within a couple of points on a few ocasions. Our backs played outstanding, and with our forwards taking their scores well we held out to win by four points.well done to all the twenty lads on the panel. We play Midleton on Sat 15th Oct at 4pm in Carrig. We look forward to your support for this semi-final game.

We played a premier 1 league game against Killeagh on Sunday last in the field. It was our first game together in a good while. The lads played against a strong wind in the first half and were a few points behind at the break. They played as a unit in the second and scored some fantastic points throughout the game. They were four point winners in the end.
Carrig   2-17     Killeagh 4-7
Well done to all the panel.

The Carrig under 13 hurlers had a convincing win over Eire og in the field on a beautiful sunday evening last. The lads were a few points ahead at half time and unlucky not to be further ahead.
On a very warm evening they showed great stamina and determination and were comfortable winners in the end.
Looking forward to the next game. Well done to all the lads.

Quarter Final v Inniscarra in Inniscarra on 16th May
Inniscarra 1-12 Carrigtwohill 2-5

We  played Inniscarra in Inniscarra on 16th May. We suffered a number of injuries in the lead up to the  game, against a very large panel of 22 up to the age players from Inniscarra. We had a turnout of 18 players. The first half was very poor, with Carrig players not tracking back, and passing quite badly. Inniscarra went in at the break leading by 0-8 to 0-1.
Carrig started the second half a lot better. Carrig scored an early goal, and pulled back the Inniscarra lead to 2 points at one stage. Carrig scored another 1-2 in the closing stages, but Inniscarra got their own goal, and in the end won by a final scoreline of 1-12 to 2-5.
A tremendous second half performance by the starting fifteen and subs. The Selectors were very proud of the effort shown by the players.

1st Round Championship Eastern v Ballinhassig in Carrigtwohill on Monday 9th May

Our first outing of the Championship was against Ballinhassig in Carrigtwohill on Monday 9th May. We had a good turnout of players who were anxious to impress.
All our up to the age players started, and  a great game was played by all. We were ahead at half time, and in the end we pulled away for a good start to the championship proper.

Challenge v Kiltha Óg on 26th April

Our U13s started off their championship preparations with a well fought game against Kiltha Óg on 26th April.  This practice match allowed the selectors to look forward to the upcoming championship game with Ballinhassig.  We had a good turnout, and all players got a fair run out.  We were missing a few players, but the u12s in the team played very well, and contributed to a good victory by 10 points.
