Under-16 Hurling 2011

Our U16 team participated in the Premier 1 grade this year, this was a very high standard.

In our opening league game we played a very strong Blackrock team in Church road and we were well beaten on the night. Our next few league games were against Duhallow, Mallow & Glen Rovers and again we were beaten in all of these games, however the team was improving with each game as they were becoming accustomed to the standard of hurling that was required to compete at this level.

We won our first league game against Sars and played further games against Newtownshandrum & Midleton and though we lost both we were now much more competitive and were a match for both teams.

We also played a number of challenge games including a fine win over Killeagh/Itas.

Hurling Championship

In the championship we were drawn against Na piarsiagh, the game was played in CIT. On the night the lads gave everything and were somewhat unfortunate to come out on the losing side, the improvement shown over the course of the year was testament to the amount of work that was put in by both the lads and their mentors. Well done to all involved and thanks for all the hard work.
It should be noted that Na Piarsiagh qualified for the County final where they were heavily defeated by Blackrock.
