Championship v Erin's Own in Lisgoold on Saturday 21st July 2012

Carrigtwohill 2-7 Erin's Own 4-19

Glorious conditions greeted the sides last Saturday afternoon where a quarter final place was at stake. We got off to a terrible start conceding a goal after 40 seconds. We scored two points in reply only to conced another soft goal on the 13th minute with some terrible defending. We kept in the game scoring three points without reply Then Seanie Farrell burst through their defence and kicked a great goal to leave us down at the break by 4 points.

Disaster struck after half time Erin's Own broke through again to rattle the net again to go 7 points ahead. We never recovered from that and Erin's Own went on to cruise home to win by 14 points. A disapointing end to the season with some players not willing to play with the junior team which is a concern to the selectors. One player stood out today Seanie Farrell who scored 2-2 and had the fullback in trouble all day.

Team- S.Devlin, A Gosnell, D Hogan, C Carroll, C McCarthy, P Hogan, S Forbes, J Horgan, K McCarthy, S Healy, S Farrell, M Maconville,

D Scriven, L Barry , M Foley.

Subs used - C Keegan, E O'Brien, D O'Donovan.

Championship v Killeagh in Lisgoold on Friday 22nd June 2012

Carrigtwohill 2-8 Killeagh 1-17

After two other venues were not available we headed to Lisgoold in the first round of the championship. Minus a few players, we still had a strong panel to pick from. Killeagh won

the toss and played with the wind. The game started with both teams defending well with

scores hard to get. After 15 mins gone it was all square four points a piece with S Farrell

scoring 3 points and Marty with one. In the final ten mins Killeagh outscored Carrig scoring

seven points to one to leave us down by six points at half time.

We got two points after the break from S Farrell and StevenKidney but Killeagh then got the

vital goal to leave us with a mountain to climb. We introduced three subs to good effect with

Donal Hogan and Liam Barry getting two great goals to leave us in with a shout with 5 mins to go. Killeagh stood tall and scored another point to kill our chances. Overall a disapointing result.

League v Cloyne in Cloyne on Saturday 16th June 2012
Carrigtwohill 0-11 Cloyne 1-14

This was our last game before championship but we struggled to get a team out with players injured and some lads going on holidays that night and it left us with 17 players. Cloyne started the game with great hunger and scored 4 points after 10 mins without reply. Seanie Farrell scored our first point of the game and Liam Barry scored two more to get us back into the game. Cloyne dominated the rest of the half and scored a goal to leave it 1-7 to 0-4 at the break and we also lost S Farrell and Donal Hogan with injuries.

We made two changes at the break to try and get into the game. We had two goal chances but the keeper made two great saves.

We tried very hard in the second half but could not break down their backs. This result ended our league chances.

Team - Regie, Eoin O'Brien

League v Dungourney in Carigtwohill on Monday 11th June 2012
Carrigtwohill 0-15 Dungourney 1-12

We played dungourney in round 6 of the league at home on Monday evening. We started slowly again going behind by 2 points after ten mins. Liam Barry scored two frees to settle us down to play some good hurling. Both teams scored great points to leave the half time score eight points each.

Then disaster stuck we defended poorly and gifted Dungourney a goal. We got back into the game with three points from Liam and Jay who were playing very well. With five mins to go it was anyone's game and we went ahead with two mins to go from a great score from Dylan but Dungourney got a great score to level the match. Overall a draw was a fair result. We had good performances from the younger lads. A better second half performance to keep us on top of the league. We have two more league games to play.

We started slowly in the 2nd half conceding three points after 5 mins. We made a few switches in the forward line to good effect with Liam Barry and Jason scoring some great points from play. With ten minutes to go we got a 2nd goal from Diamen to kill off the game. Overall a good team performance and it keeps us on top of league. League v Youghal on Monday 7th May 2012

Carrigtwohill 4-16 Youghal 2-12

Carrig's junior hurlers continued their great run of form with an impressive victory over Youghal in Copper Alley on Monday evening. Trailing by a point at half time Carrig made terrific use of a slight breeze to pull away from their hosts in the second half, with two goals from the irrepressible Marty McConville emphasising Carrig's superiority.

Youghal led by 1-6 to 0-8 at the break even though Carrig had done more of the hurling and were unlucky to be behind. Padraig Hogan, Denis O'Connor and Cormac Carroll were outstanding in the Carrig defence and the Carrig forwards didn't make enough use of the ball they were given. However, that changed in the second half.

Shane Healy scored Carrig's first goal shortly after the break when the Youghal full back deflected his shot past the goalie and after that Carrig took over. Jason Leahy always looked dangerous and landed a couple of beautiful points while Cian Harte was another star of Carrig's victory, notching up 10 points, eight from frees. Jay Horgan did very at centre field before having to retire injured while another one of the minors, Christopher Keegan, completed the scoring for Carrig with a late goal.

Carrig: Brian Hegarty, Eoin O'Brien, Donal Hogan, Cormac Carroll, Sean Casey, Padraig Hogan, Denis O'Connor, Jay Horgan, Shane Healy, Christopher Keegan, Cian Harte, Sean Rohan, Marty McConville, Mattie Foley, Jason Leahy.
Subs: Brian Dineen and Aidan Meade.

We made a few changes at the break to good effect. We scored eight points in a row and finished the game with two more league points. Overall back to winning ways and good to see the young lads playing their part with Gary Moriarty getting a great goal.

We started slowly again and were down four points after ten minutes. We then settled down and scored four points fromJason and Bobs. It left the score at half time 1-5 to 0-4 to the home team.

We started brightly in the second half scoring 1-1 inside 5 mins and looking like we might get something out of the game with the fullback line defending well. With 10 mins to go it was anyones game to win but Killeagh finished stronger hitting six points without reply. Carrig tried to find the net in the final minutes but could not break down Killeagh's strong full backline. Overall we tried very hard in the 2nd half. We have a lot of work to do in ths shooting apartment as we had alot of wides during the 2nd half.
