League v Cobh in Carrigtwohill on Friday 28th June 2013

Carrigtwohill 1-2 Cobh 2-3

An eagerly awaited match - despite a long layoff during the junior cert exams, both teams were looking forward to stepping on the field again.  The teams were equally matched, Carrig without 5 of their key players unfortunately.  But the younger Carrig girls stepped up to the mark and proved their place on the team.  Fitness was the deciding factor in this game and Cobh had that advantage here.  Some excellent camogie demonstated, with a cracking goal from the Cobh forward early in the first half.  Carrig replied with a well timed goal from Courtney Horgan that rattled the back of the net.  Well done girls, great game to watch

League v Youghal in Minane Bridge on Friday 10th May 2013

The coldest day of the year amid freezing conditions for the U16 match v Youghal.  Despite this, Carrig probably had their best game of the season so far.  Both teams were evenly matched, Carrig displayed tenacity and hard won possession to get the upper hand over Youghal.  Well done girls !

League v Tracton in Minane Bridge on Friday 19th April 2013

Carrig girls were without some of the older members of their team on Friday, but were confident when they headed out to meet Tracton.   Superb camogie in the first half and very little between the teams leading up to half time. However the second half, Tracton gradually got on top with their centre forward getting great possesion from mid field and who didn't fail to hit the back of the net.  Carrig continued to put in bursts of attack, but time ran out with Tracton running out winners in the end.  Carrig put in a great performance, their first league outing of the year.

Challenge v Sars in Carrigtwohill on Saturday 9th March 2013

This was the U16 first outing of the season - a challenge match against a very experienced Sars side. Despite the ground being very heavy and not so pleasant camogie conditions - The girls on both sides played with great gusto and a competitive spirit from the off.  The Carrig team were without some of their regular players due to trials, but the team gelled very well together with coaches experimenting different tactics.  The League augurs well with the girls very keen - well done girls.
