They started well scoring some great points from play but we recovered well with Liam Barry and Shane Healy scoring a few points from play to go into the half time break level 10 points a piece.

The second half was exciting when twice we went ahead by scoring two great goals by Liam and Jamie Mac only for them to draw level with 2 mins to go. We had a few chances in the end to win it but they were more hungrier in extra time and won by 1-29 to 3-16. Well done to every player in the panel for a great year.

League Final v Russell Rovers in Cobh on Sunday 13th October 2013

Carrigtwohill 1-16 Russell Rovers 2-12

Carrigtwohill's junior hurlers won the East Cork League with a terrific performance against Russell Rovers in Cobh, less than two months after losing to the same opposition by three goals in the regulation League match. Fielding a very young team Carrig showed tremendous heart to grind out

a victory with a last minute point from a long range free by the excellent Eoin O'Mahony.

Carrig started slowly and were three points down early on but they came back well to lead by a point

at half time, 0-7 to 0-6. In the second half, though, the game really opened up. Russell Rovers reclaimed the lead with a goal shortly after half time but Carrig battled back and during their best

spell in the match they went from three points down to four points up.

Liam Barry's goal was at the heart of Carrig's period of dominance as well as brilliant long range

points from O'Mahony, Dylan Scriven and Shane Healy. Seamus Roche was proving a handful

for the Russell Rovers defence at full forward while at the other end Shane Devlin was very

composed under pressure in the Carrig goal. Carrig looked to be in the clear with five minutes left but Russell Rovers struck back with a goal and a point in quick succession and it was anybody's match in the last few minutes. Carrig briefly re-claimed the lead until the winner finally came deep in injury time. Carrig won a free near their own 65 and O'Mahony sent it over the bar, a score that was fit to win any match. Carrig now go forward to the Junior Hurling County League where they will face Doneraile.

Carrig - Shane Devlin, Cian Buckley, Donal Hogan, Brian Cashman, Eoin O'Mahony, Aaron Gosnell, Dylan Scriven, Denis O'Connor, Sean Rohan, Shane Healy, Liam Barry, Kevin Murphy, Jamie McCarthy, Seamus Roche, Marty McConville.

Subs used: Ronan Higgins, Christopher Keegan, Liam O'Connell.

League v Castleylons in Castleylons on Sunday 22nd September 2013

Castleylons 0-15 Carrigtwohill 2-19

This was our last league game in which we needed to win to stay in contention. We had a good turnout of players to pick rom. Castleylons started brightly going ahead by two points after five minutes. Liam and Shane scored a few points and Jamie Mac got a great goal before half time to leave us leading by 7 points at half time.

They got a few points to reduce our lead to 4 with 5 mins to go but we got another goal by Liam Barry to win by 10 points. Overall a better display from the last match and hopefully we will make the league final.

Scores - Liam Barry 1-8, Shane Healy 0-3, Jamie Mac 1-1, Jay Horgan, Sean Rohan 0-2, Cathel, Marty, S Roche 0-1.

Team - S Devlin, D Scriven, D Hogan, B Cashman, E O'Mahony, A Gosneill, J Horgan, D O'Connor, S Rohan, C O'Sullivan, L Barry,

Championship v Castlemartyr in Rostellan on Friday 9th August 2013

Carrigtwohill 2-9 Castlemartyr 2-19

Castlemartyr booked their place in the East Cork Oil JAHC final with a comfortable win over Carrig. On a lovely evening for a game of hurling the reds started brightly scoring a couple of points after five mins but we responded with a point from Shane Healy. Then disaster struck we gave away a soft goal after 15 mins and they finished very strong to lead by 1-12 to 0-6 at the half time whistle.

The one thing Carrig needed was a good start to the second half but it was Castlemartyr that found it with a goal inside a min and that was game over. We made a few switches putting Shane Murphy at centre back and Shane Fives centre forward which helped. We tried very hard in second half and we scored two great goals from Jamie and S Fives but it was not enough. Overall we were beaten by a excellent Castlemartyr team and wish them well in the final.

We can be proud of our players who gave their all tonight and hopefully next year we can go one step further. Well done to every player in the panel and the manager and selectors for a great year. We hopefully now can go on and win the league which would finish off a great season.

Team - S Devlin, A Gosnell, D Hogan, B Cashman, J Horgan, S Fives, D O'Connor, S Healy, C O'Sullivan, S Kidney, L Barry, S Rohan,

Championship v Dungourney in Midleton on Friday 26th July 2013

Carrigtwohill 3-13 Dungourney 1-17

What a fantastic game of hurling in the quarter final of the East Cork JAHC played in perfect conditions in Midleton in a game that was played at a blistering pace. Dungourney opened brightly with two early points but we settled down and Jamie Mac give us a great start scoring a great goal after five mins and Liam Barry hitting some excellent points from play and frees. Dungourney replied with a goal but we levelled it up with a great goal from Jamie Mac and went ahead when Liam scored a great goal from a free to lead at half time by three points.

We started the second half with one change with C Gosnell coming on for Marty. They hit eight second half wides and five of those came in the opening six mins of the second half which gave us great hope to go on and win. We fought for every ball putting our bodies on the line and with ten minutes to go we led by six points but Dungourney scored a couple of points to cut the lead by two with injury time to play. We held on to claim a famous win. This was a great team performance from one to twenty and one of the best performances of a second team that played in the JAHC and we are now in the semi final against castlemartyr and a game we are all looking forward to.

Special mention to our supporters who gave us great support on the night.

Well done to all payers and selectors who got the game plan spot on.

Team - S Devlin, C Buckley, D Hogan, A Gosnell, B Cashman, S Fives, D O'Connor, S Healy, C O'Sullivan, M MacConville, L Barry,

Carrigtwohill 2-17 Cloyne 0-10

Carrig advance to the quarter final after they defeated Cloyne in the 4th round of the

championship and now meet Dungourney next weekend. We started the big Seamas Roche

in full forward and he was causing havoc scoring a great goal just before the break to go in

at half time 1-10 to 0-6 in front. We scored some lovely points from Liam and Shane and

Darren O'Driscoll who scored a great goal from great work by S Roche to kill the game with

ten to go. We played in patches just doing enough. Up next Dungourney who will be hot

favourites but we should give a good account of ourselves.

C O'Sullivan, S Kidney, L Barry, C Keegan, D O'Driscoill, S Roche, L O'Connell.

Championship v Bride Rovers in Watergrasshill on Saturday 6th July 2013

Carrigtwohill 0-19 Bride Rovers 0-18

Carrig sealed victory in the dying seconds in the second round of the JAHC in Watergrasshill. This was another tough encounter. We made two changes from the team sheet as we lost to players from injury. Bride Rovers started well hitting some great points from play. We then got into the game by scoring a few points from S Healy and Darren and the outstanding captain Liam Barry. We finished the first half only one point down and not playing well.

We made one change at the break bringing on Brian Cashman who had a great game at corner back. There was no separating the sides throughout the second half. Time after time they were level and extra time looked like a certainty. With seven mins to go they went ahead by two points but we fought back to level with Aaron scoring a massive point and took the lead from Liam Barry scoring a late free to win the match. A great effort from every player in the second half with Cathal Sullivan outstanding in the last ten mintues. Next up in the third round is Cloyne next weekend.

Championship v Carraig na bhFear in Lisgoold on Sunday 30th June 2013

Carraig na bhFear 3-14 Carrigtwohill 0-16 AET

Defending champions Carraig na Bhfear had to fight hard to see off carrig in the first round of the championship which went all the way to extra time. We started well playing direct hurling and fighting for every ball. We gifted them two goals before the break to be seven points down at half time but we were playing against the wind so all was not lost.

We had a brillant second half scoring some great points from Liam Barry and S Kidney. We made a few changes with Ciaran Gosnell and Seamas Roche coming on and with five mins to go we went ahead by a point but a soft free was awarded to them to draw the match with a min to go. We ran out of steam in extra time and lost by seven points. Every player who played could not be faulted because it was the best display from the junior team in a while and we now must build on it going forward to the next game.
