Championship v Charleville in Castlelyons on Wednesday 10th July 2013

Carrigtwohill 4-18 Charleville 0-11

We had been well beaten by this opposition earlier on in the league and so we needed to gain some revenge last night. We have improved enormously since that night and this was reflected in our performance. Our attitude was first class and we were prepared to battle it out from the first whistle.

Our first touch was excellent and Austin's trapping of a high ball in the second half had to be seen to be believed. Cathal O'Sullivan put in a really hard hours work and worked selflessly for the team. Darren was the marquee forward with 3 goals but the goalie, backs and midfield laid the foundations by restricting the opposition to just 7 points from play. Here Dylan and Austin were outstanding but really the whole team panel can be well pleased with a good nights work.

Team - Steven O'Flynn, Brian Cashman, Dylan Scriven, Frank Kierans, Oliver Baverstock, Shane Murphy, Austin Creagh,
Eoghan O'Mahony, Brendan McCarthy, Shane Walsh, Cathal O'Sullivan, Ciaran Gosnell, Chris Keegan, Darren O Driscoll,
Jamie Mc Carthy.
Subs - James Ahern, Luke Kelly, Adam Mc Namara, Dean Twohig.

League v Fr O'Neills in Carrigtwohill on Thursday 27th June 2013

Carrigtwohill 2-12 Fr O'Neills 1-22

A spirited display  but a disappointing result. Short 5 players from our last championship team Carrig found Fr O'Neill's too strong overall for them in the last league game before champoinship next week. Carrig battled until the final whistle but the overall teamwork from the full strength Fr O'Neill's was just too much for Carrig. Brian Cashman had a tremendous game at full back and is coming into great form approaching championship while up front Darren's 1 -3 from play (plus brought down for the penaly which Brendan converted) was the highlight. Championship next week and with all bar Jamie Mac available, all hopes are high for a good result.

Non Exam League Final v Mallow in Carrigtwohill on Wednesday 19th June 2013

Carrigtwohill 3-11 Mallow 2-13

Long evenings, lovely weather, great pitch, small ball and two evenly matched teams, what more could one ask for on a Summers evening! No matter the name on the competition, this game was fought at championship intensity throughout and in a rough and tough game Carrig came out on top by the single point. Assisted by a good breeze we were down 6 points at one stage in the first half but we dug deep and went into the break 1-8 to 0-7 down.

A gutsy second half with no quarter being asked or given saw us score three goals ( 2 from Darren and a penalty from Brendan)with Carrig deserving victors from a highly entertaining match. For Carrig Dara Crotty had an amazing first half with 4 points on the board while James Ahern and Shane Murph were powerful throughout.

Team - Luke Kelly, James Ahern, Brian Cash, Dylan Scriven - Capt, Shane Murphy, Paul Bardon, Eoghan O'Mahony, Shane Ryan,
Darren O'Driscoll, Dara Crotty, Brendan Mac, Dean Twohig.
Subs - Frank Kerins, Maurice Curtin, Conor O'Mahony.

Non Exam League v Bandon in Carrigtwohill on Saturday 18th May 2013

Carrigtwohill 5-10 Bandon 1-20

Non Exam 12 a side, 2nd league game of the series. On a lovely evening for hurling, we togged out against Bandon in the non exam league. The opposition had dual Cork minor Ml Cahalane playing with them and he was a handful for the entire evening. We were 10 points in arrears at half time, 1-13 to 1-3. A great team spirit saw us eliminate the deficit and come out by 2 points victors. 3 goals from Jamie Mac, a goal from a free from Eoghan and a net buster from Dean Twohig were our principal scores. The winner though for Carrig was team spirit which was hugely evident in the 2nd half and that work ethic won this game for us. 12aside involves a lot of selfless off the ball running and we all the Carrig team ran themselves into the ground here. Great displays from all 15 who togged out.

Team - Steven O Flynn, Dylan Scriven, Brian Cashman, Paul Bardon, Shane Murphy, Cathal O'Sullivan (Capt), Eaghan O'Mahony,

Shane Walsh, Ciaran Gosnell, Olamide Oki, Maurice Curtin, Jamie McCarthy, Frank Kierans, Dean Twohig, Shane Ryan, Gearoid O'Leary.

Championship v Newtownshandrum in Fermoy on Wednesday 24th April 2013

Carrigtwohill 2-11 Newtownshandrum 3-11

We headed to Fermoy on the 24th having had a poor previous weeks preparation when bad weather and a tornado( yeah) forced both of our pre championship warm up games to be cancelled. Three first half goals from Shandrum had us on the back foot and we were always struggling thereafter. Indeed the third goal went straight in from a side line cut. We had goals apiece from Chris Keegan and Darren O'Driscoll to have us a goal in arrears at half time.

The second hald was more of the same, but without the goals and Shandrum kept their half time lead to the final whistle. Frank Kierans, Dylan, Eoghan, Brendan Mac and Dara Crotty all had good displays on a day when we needed all 15 to produce to win. A good May and June and this team will give the championship a good rattle yet.

Team: Steven O'Flynn, Frank Kierans, Shane Murphy, Brian Cashman, Oliver Baverstock, Dylan Scriven, Austin Creagh,
Eoghan O'Mahony, Cathal O'Sullivan, Brendan McCarthy, Darren O'Driscoll, Dara Crotty, Jamie Mc Carthy, Chris Keegan, Ciaran Gosnell.

League v Carrigaline in Carrigaline on Thursday 11th April 2013
Carrigaline 2-8 Carrigtwohill 4-17

A good display by a Carrig team ensured both points against a weak Carrigaline team. The main difference between this display and the previous league game was a change of attitude in the Carrigtwohill team. All our main players put in a good hours shift and a good workmanlike attitude was evident. This was a good solid display by Carrig and we kept the attitude good up to the final whistle. An excellent team spirit was great to see. Brian Cash, Dylan, Shane Murph, Darren and 3 goal Christopher Keegan were all good for Carrig.

Team - Stephen O Flynn, Frank Kierans, Dylan Scriven, Brian Cashman, Shane Walsh, Shane Murphy, Austin Creagh, Darren O'Driscoll, Eoghan O'Mahony, Dara Crotty, Ciaran Gosnell, Jamie Mc Carthy, Brendan McCarthy, Chris Keegan, Luke Kelly.

Subs  used - Dean Twohig, Maurice Curtin, Paul Bardon, James Ahern, Conor O'Mahony.

League v Charleville in Carrigtwohill on Saturday 30th March 2013
Carrigtwohill 0-13 Charleville 3-10

This was our first league game of the season and the rustiness showed in the team. Owing to the poor weather we have had two recent challenge games cancelled and the lack of hurling match practice showed. A bad series of errors allowed the opposition in for a poor goal within 5 minutes of the start and we were playing catch up for the rest of the game. With the wind to our back however we finished the first half just a point down 0-0 to 2-5. An Eoin O'Mahoney brace being our highlight of the first half.

The second half was a big letdown for Carrig and a last minute goal by Charleville was the final nail in our coffin. We had good displays from Oliver Baverstock, Brendan Mc Carthy, Dara Crotty and an exellent second half display from Dylan.

Team - Steven O'Flynn, Shane Walsh, Dylan Scriven, Brian Cashman, Oliver Baverstock, Shane Murphy, Cathal O'Sullivan,
Eoghan O Mahoney, Ciaran Gosnell, Chris Keegan, Darren O'Driscoll, Dara Crotty, Brendan McCarthy, Jamie Mc Carthy, Frank Keirans.

Subs Used - Austin Creagh, Luke Kelly, Adam Mc Namara.

Challenge v Killeagh in Carrigtwoholl on Sunday 24th February 2013

Carrigtwohill 1-19 Killeagh 1-18

Our Minor Hurlers got their campaign under way  with a very competitive game against Killeagh last Sunday with both teams a little rusty early on which was to be expected. With our Under 16's away on football duty both teams agreed to play 13 a side with Killeagh's second goalie playing with us as Stephen Flynn was away with the footballers.

There was nothing between the  teams in the first half and it was a goal late in the first half which seperated the two teams at half time.  A Jamie McCarthy goal early in the second half had the teams level and with Ciaran Gosnell unerroring both from frees and play it looked as if the game would end all square. However two fabulous scores from centre back Shane Murphy and another by Eoghan Mahony gave us the perfect start to the year.

Thanks to Brian Murphy for doing an excellent job with the whistle.

Team - Killeagh sub goalie Shane Walsh, Brian Cashman, Austin Creagh, Shane Murphy, Cathal O'Sullivan, Dylan Scriven,
Ciaran Gosnell, Eoghan O'Mahony, Jamie McCarthy, Christopher Keegan, Darren O'Driscoll, James Ahern.
