The under 11 league continued with a trip to Watergrasshill on a beautiful warm day. Kathryn, following in Junes footsteps took charge of her first match. With Leah made captain and Kinga playing her first match, all was to play for. Watergrasshill who previously had beaten Cobh, a result was required. Claire and Emily from the off were a superb duo in the middle of the field, allowing lily the freedom to pick up loose ball and set up attack after attack. After some last ditch defending from WGH Claire final broke the dead lock with a fabulous strike. This woke WGH up and as the pressed on for the equaliser Maedhbh Carroll who started her first game as goalkeeper mad a world class save and with the help from Megan cleared the danger. With WGH now building up a head of steam after getting a goal to draw the game. Mia stepped up at centre back and broke up the next attack Maedhbh O'Shea playing half back using her skill and speed set Julie up and for the next 10 minutes we peppered the goal with shots raining in from Sarah, Kinga and Katelyn but half time came to soon.
The second half went much the way of the first with Lily Claire and Emily taking control again. Violet shot wide from a free and with the goal not coming WGH got a second wind and only some brilliant goalkeeping from Maedhbh. Leah and Mia stood firm and with Sarah getting some hooks in the game ended in a draw. This sets up the last game against Cobh all to play for. John got to have a chat with fellow Tipp man Eddie Enright who took charge of WGH. Pass on our best wishes to Kaci who became ill the night before.
Well done to the young lady from Watergrasshill Camogie Club who referee-d the game. She did fantastic.
Huge thanks and credit to Carol U10 coach, who after training her own age group in Carrigtwohill brought ice lollies from Carrigtwohill for the girls. Thanks Carol it was a lovely gesture and the girls really appreciated it.
