This year sees Carrigtwohill U16s promoted to the A Grade and drawn against Youghal, Mallow and Bishopstown for the League, with the top 2 coming out on top to vie for a Cup or Plate Semi-final.

A big thank you to Grainne for stepping up to take the Goalkeeper position for today’s match. Her attitude was spot on and she excelled in every way, particularly her puck-outs. The first 10 minutes saw Grainne saving 3 attempts at goal alone. She deservedly captained her team today.

The first quarter was a very even battle on all parts of the pitch with Youghal breaking through at times, but nothing that our defense and goalkeeper could not deal with. Carrigtwohill went in for their water break 1 point up. From then on it was a constant battle with strong play from both sides. Youghal found a bit more space at key times and that is all it took to gain a lead with a half time score line of 1:03 to 0:02 to Youghal.

With the slope to our advantage in the 2nd half, our girls came out strong and determined and within 10 minutes a lovely goal by Sinead on the 40 minute  mark brought us back into contention with a score line of 2:07 to 1:06 to Youghal but with Carrigtwohill gaining momentum. 

Unfortunately the water break did not suit us today, with Youghal coming out and getting 4 scores within 6 minutes of the restart. However we kept our heads up and full credit to the girls for pulling the score difference back to 5 points at the end. The girls played their hearts out – we couldn’t have asked for more from them.
