Carrig 3-19 Killeagh 0-11 in Killeagh on Friday, March 11^th Referee: Niall O’Neill (Midleton)

Carrig’s junior hurlers got their league campaign off to a good start with an away win at Killeagh. It was an even opening 20 minutes with Killeagh in particular guilty of a few wides. But Carrig slowly took a hold of proceedings and tightened up well at the back before finding some joy up top.

David Joseph’s driving runs from midfield set up some good scores with Mark O’Connor, Oisin Lynch and Sean O’Sullivan dangerous inside. Ollie Baverstock’s shift from wing-back to centre-forward led to 2 goals for Bav. A 3^rd goal was poached by substitute Darragh Hannigan. As Carrig racked up scores at the other end, the defence was well on top with Shane Murphy resolute at centre back and subs Jack Barrett and Stephen Flynn winning their own battles.

Carrig will meet Fr. O’Neills in the second round of the league next weekend.
