Aghada vs CArrigtwohill in Rostellan

Carrig were overwhelmed by Aghada from the very early stages of this match and were unable to compete with them on the evening.

Adrian Browne goaled for Carrig after six minutes after soloing about 90m from inside his own ‘65’ and finishing well to the net. Unfortunately, it was all Aghada after that and they went in at half-time leading 2-11 to 1-03. Cian Thornton, Luke Kelly and Cormac Flynn pointd for Carrig in the first half, with O’Flynn making a great run up the right wing to set himself up. Tom Mullaney pulled off a great diving save to deny Aghada a third goal.

Mullaney saved impressively again early in the second half and Aghada scored four points to Carrig’s two; a solid kick from Cian Thornton followed by an angled effort from 40m by Luke Kelly. Tom pulled off his third save from a penalty. Carrig then reeled off the next three scores. Shane Healy kicked a nice point off the outside of his boot. Luke converted from in front of the posts. Frank Kierans sold a lovely dummy and cut through the middle to raise a white flag to make it 2-16 to 1-08. Mullaney then made a fourth fine save from a point blank effort. Aghada ran in three goals in the closing stages. Ronan Browne kicked Carrig’s final point of the match.

Well done to the team and the management on doing their best but they were simply outclassed by a better team on the evening. On a positive note, there were seven scorers from play, and all of Carrig’s scores came from play.
