Junior A Hurling Championship Round 2 Group 2 in Watergrasshill on Sunday 13th August
Carrigtwohill  1.11  -  0.16  Carraig na bhFear
Luke Kelly O’Regan opened the scoring in the second minute when his blasted effort was deflected over the Carraig na bhFear crossbar.  Carraig na bhFear levelled before Seán O’Sullivan split the posts.  Three opposition points (two frees) followed and Luke notched two frees, one from his own 65m line, to draw level (0-4 apiece), midway through the half.  A Carraig na bhFear score was cancelled out by a Kelly O’Regan ‘65’ and an opposition free put their noses in front.  Two more frees from Luke’s bas put Carrigtwohill a point ahead; the first one coming after David Joseph was fouled, having fought hard to win the ball.  Carraig na bhFear converted a ‘65’ in added time to level matters (0-7 to 0-7) at the break.
The teams continued to trade points in the third quarter, with the match still all square (0-11 apiece) on 45 minutes.  Ollie Baverstock squared the ball to Luke Kelly O’Regan and he raised a white flag, following up with two more frees.  Captain, David Rooney landed a long range effort over the crossbar from his own 65m line.  Carraig na bhFear dominated the final quarter, as Carrigtwohill struggled to get scores and struck a series of wides.  Four unanswered points made it a four point game.  In the final minute of normal time, Luke blasted to the net from a 20m free to reduce the margin to one point.  Carraig na bhFear scored a good point in added time to seal the win.
Despite losing, this was a respectable performance, with the entire team putting in a good effort. Â Carrig will await the result of the Carraig na bhFear v Midleton match on the 1st of September to see if they qualify for a quarter-final.
