Pride of the Parish
We are so proud of young Adam Lee who played on goal for the Cork minors today against Wexford in the All-Ireland hurling championship preliminary quarter-final.
Cork lost the match in Thurles on a scoreline of 2-16 to 1-10.
This was 15 year old Adam's first minor championship match and we have no doubt that the experience will stand to him. The future is very bright for this super young player.
Respect, Adam. Onwards and upwards.
Adam is pictured after the game with his Carrig teammates ('men in black') who made the trip to Tom Semple Stadium to support him and the Cork team.
Carrig’s Adam Lee has been named as goalkeeper on the Cork minor team for Saturday's All-Ireland hurling championship preliminary quarter-final against Wexford in Semple Stadium at 4pm.
Cork started the provincial campaign with a four point loss to eventual Munster champions, Tipperary. They followed that with wins against Limerick and Waterford. The Rebels lost their last round-robin match to Clare. Adam was sub-keeper for those games.
Adam, who is fifteen, is eligible for the Cork minors again next year. It is a fantastic achievement for Adam to make the starting team and the club is extremely proud of this very likeable young person, who is a great role model for his peers.
It is fourteen years since Carrig had a county minor hurling goalkeeper, when Willie McCarthy wore the No. 1 jersey for Cork.
The game will be shown live online on Spórt TG4: youtube.com/c/SportTG4
The club wishes Adam and the Cork team the very best of luck against Wexford.
