Cork Senior Hurling Championship Semi-final
Carrigtwohill 0-11 Glen Rovers 0-26 in Páirc Uí Rinn on Sunday, October 6th
Referee: Cathal McAllister (Aghada)
Carrig’s improbable run to the County Senior Hurling Championship semi-final came to an end against a well-drilled Glen Rovers side.
The Glen came flying out of the blocks and were 12 points up in the first quarter before Carrig settled. Carrig battled ably from there on out but the damage was done early on as the Glen ran out comfortable winners. Liam Gosnell scored 10 of Carrig’s points (9 frees) with Jay Horgan getting the other.
Despite this defeat our hurlers can look back on a fantastic year that saw them recover from a heavy defeat in the opening round to emerge victorious over Killeagh, Bandon and Ballyhea. This was our first time back in a Senior County semi-final since 2011 and everyone involved in Carrigtwohill GAA is rightly proud of the efforts of these lads this year. The club would like to thank the players and the management team of Keith Ricken, Marty McConville, John Horgan, Jim O’Connor and Mick Boland for their time and endeavour this year. Carrig will be playing top grade Premier Senior hurling in 2020.
