Carrig vs Ballyhea in Páirc Uí Rinn on Sunday, September 15th.
Referee: Simon Stokes (Tullylease)
Our senior hurlers take on Ballyhea in the Senior Hurling Championship Quarter-Final tomorrow, Sunday September 14th in Páirc Ui Rinn at 2pm.
Carrig and Ballyhea both lost their opening round games; Carrig by 0-8 to 3-23 against St. Finbarrs and Ballyhea by 2-27 to 1-10 against Blackrock. Carrig have rebounded with wins over Killeagh and Bandon to make it this far and Ballyhea have accounted for Bride Rovers and Kanturk. The winners of this round will meet Newtownshandrum or Glen Rovers in a county semi-final.
Carrig are looking to make their first senior county semi-final since winning it all in 2011. Carrig and Ballyhea last met in 2017 in the Relegation playoff when Carrig shipped 2-4 without reply in the opening 7 minutes before a stunning comeback that secured a 2-point win.
The 2 sides last met in the Championship proper in 2016 when Ballyhea came out on top 2-14 to 1-10. It’s sure to be a hard-fought championship tussle and the club would like to wish our players and management the very best of luck. Please come out and support our lads.
