Carrig 0-15 Sars 5-18 in Caherlag on Sunday, September 19^th

Goals win games was the adage that Carrig had on their mind as they trotted off the Caherlag pitch having put in an honest shift but succumbed to Sars greater firepower.

Carrig held their only lead of the game after 5 minutes thanks to 2 Gosnell frees but after a soft Sars penalty was netted the Glanmire side never looked back. A 2^nd Sars goal from Jack O’Connor was responded to well with Gosnell and Twomey pointing from play to leave Carrig down 4 at the water break, 0-5 to 2-3. It was in the 5 minutes before the half though that Sars really pulled away having netted their 3^rd goal earlier in the half, they added 1-4 without reply to go in at the half 4-9 to 0-8 in arrears. A Gosnell free and scores from Justin Oke and Liam O’Sullivan rounded out Carrig’s scores at the half.

Carrig were much better after the restart and were ahead in the half again going into the last 5 minutes. Sean Walsh was excellent, registering 5 points (0-1f) but Sars larger bench helped them to tack on a few scores at the death to see the final scoreline 0-15 to 5-18.

Carrig now meet Na Piarsaigh in Cobh on Sunday, October 10^th with the losing side finishing bottom of the group and facing into a relegation playoff.
