Best Wishes Joe Bunce
Best Wishes Joe Bunce
February 24, 2023
Joe Bunce retired from his caretaker duties at the club grounds last Friday. Joe has been cutting the grass and looking after the grounds for the last seven years. He was previously caretaker at Páirc Séamus de Barra for a year in 1990, along with Billy Savage (RIP).
Joe was born in Barryscourt and played underage GAA with Carrigtwohill. He is a keen follower of hurling and football. Joe is a ‘memory man of Gaelic games’ and can name teams going back many years.
Joe and wife Kay were joined by work colleagues of Joe's and club officers last Saturday for tea and sandwiches to mark his retirement - on his 66th birthday! Joe said that he enjoyed every minute of his time working in the club. Club chairperson, Caroline Dixey made a presentation to Joe. Mile buíochas to Caroline for organising food and tea/coffee.
Club president, Eddie O'Riordan recalled how Joe was always full of yarns and jokes when in the grounds. He mentioned how a lot of great work had been done in the club during Joe's time there. Eddie wished Joe and Kay a very happy retirement.
We are very grateful to Joe for his work in the club grounds. We wish Joe and Kay the very best for the future.
