U21 Footballers Win Championship Opener
U21 Footballers Win Championship Opener
February 17, 2024
East Cork U21 B Football Championship in Carrigtwohill on Friday 16th February
Carrigtwohill 0-13
Castlemartyr 1-07
The U21 footballers had a good win in the club's first game of 2024. The conditions were as perfect as you will get for a match in the middle of February with not a puff of wind on Páirc Séamus de Barra.
Carrig led by two points, 0-05 to 0-03 at half-time. They kicked on in the second half to double their lead (0-10 to 0-06) nearing full-time. A Castlemartyr goal from a 13m free, followed by a point from another one levelled matters. Carrigtwohill responded very well with a late burst of three points to seal the win. There was a good spread of scorers, with seven players getting on the scoreboard.
Well done to the team and management on an impressive performance. Carrig will play Aghada in the semi-final next Monday in Carrigtwohill at 8pm. ('Winner on the day' applies.)
